"IT'S IN OUR OWN HANDS" DECLARES NORMAN

Wingate & Finchley face a crucial Bank Holiday Weekend as they look to secure a play-off place. The Blues are currently fifth in the Ryman League Division One North, one point behind Harlow Town in fourth, but with a useful four-point cushion over sixth-placed AFC Sudbury. However, with only three games remaining there are still several teams vying for the remaining spots. A trip to Heybridge on Saturday is followed by the last home game of the season against Waltham Forest.

Dave Norman says “We know it’s in our own hands, but nothing’s changed and we keep taking each game individually,” said Norman. “It was nice to get a weekend off, it’s been game after game during the last few months so it was a chance to rest aching limbs.

“Heybridge will be a difficult match. I watched them on Saturday and they’re a physical side – a typical Essex side if you like, so it’ll be a tough battle which we know we have to win.”
