NORMAN CONQUEST AT BATTLE OF HASTINGS

Dave Norman's troops made the perfect start to their first ever Ryman Premier League campaign with three well deserved points at Hastings United.

Leon Smith continued his goalscoring exploits of last season with the only goal of the game.

Bobby Aisien, on his return to The Blues, was the only player that featured who wasn't part of last year's promotion squad. Aisien and Nielsen were rarely troubled by the Hastings front pair although a wonder save from Bobby Smith kept the score at 1-0 at half time.

David Laird won a second half penalty and despite crashing his spot kick against the crossbar, Wingate held on for the victory. Promotion favourites Lowestoft Town travel to Summers Lane on Tuesday night.
