HARROW BOROUGH v WINGATE & FINCHLEY
On Saturday Wingate & Finchley travel to Harrow Borough for a local derby and with both teams level on points and fighting for survival, it should be a great contest.
One player who will really want to get in the thick of the action is captain Danny Nielsen who re-joined Wingate four seasons ago from the Borough.
Nielsen was substituted at half-time against Leatherhead with a hamstring injury and he admitted he is desperate to play against his former club:
“This is an important game for both clubs, and one I am desperate to play in. I had a couple of enjoyable seasons at Harrow would love to play against them especially at their place.”
Manager Dave Norman added: "Danny is an important member of the team. He will receive treatment through the week and we will evaluate on Saturday morning."
Midfielder Ross Parmenter also came off with a tight hamstring but this was just a precautionary measure and he is expected to be fit to line up against 16th place Harrow.
It has been a good seven days for the Blues with a first victory in five games last Saturday and then the midweek news that top scorer Leon Smith, who got his first goal in 11 league matches against Leatherhead, has decided to extend his contract with the club until 2014.
The team should be feeling optimistic going into this game and if they were to come away with a win, it would be the first time since August that they have managed two consecutive victories.
Harrow have won their last two games against fellow strugglers Tooting and Mitcham (2-1) and Horsham (2-0) and they also came away from AFC Hornchurch with a good point after holding the second placed Urchins to a 0-0 draw.
Wingate have a game in hand over the home side, so a win could potentially create some breathing space between the two teams and of course draw us further away from the drop zone.
Of the other teams around us; 18th place Hastings travel to play-off hopefuls Hendon, its 20th v 21st as Tooting take on Aveley, Carshalton host in-form Margate on the back of their 5-1 thrashing of Lewes, Concord should take three points from rock bottom Horsham and East Thurrock, unbeaten in eight games, face a tough visit to title chasers Hornchurch.
