The Wingate & Finchley Reserve side continue to fly the colours high as they advanced to the second round of the London Intermediate Cup where they will visit current Cup holders Corinthian Casuals. This game will be played in November. With the traffic in North London snarled up both sets of players and Officials arrived with time to spare so the game kicked off on time and the young Blues lead by captain Danny Berg were determined to attack Brimsdown from the off with plenty of quick passing and chances falling to Calvin Petrie and Lee Rosamond who were denied by a combination of poor finishing and good keeping form the Brimsdown keeper.

With the Blues back line looking very accomplished there was little for Anfossy to do apart from collect the odd cross and deal with back passes from which he started numerous attacks. As the game went on both sides went after the winner so as not to have extra time and with minutes remaining Ben Lauffer got on the end of good work from Marcus Sawyerr and with the goal gaping Lauffer lifted his effort over the bar. Manager Anthony Limbrick ensured that heads were high going into extra time and with the introduction of both Lee Flavin and Lee Hatton the average age of the Blues side fell below twenty, this was not a problem as the young legs kept going but could not find a way beyond the visiting keeper and so the game went to penalties.

Skipper Danny Berg; Lee Flavin; Ben Lauffer and Marcus Sawyerr scored their efforts as Brimsdown wasted two kicks to send the Blues through.
