After their re-entry to the Suburban League with a draw at Ruislip Manor the Wingate & Finchley reserves secured their first win of the season in emphatic style against Borehamwood at the Abrahams Stadium.
It took the Blues nearly half an hour to open the scoring but that was not for lack of effort as Jerome Boyce, newly signed from Tilbury, Jamie Hazell and James Gershfield all combined to create chances and were either denied by the woodwork or by missing the target.
When the goal came it was worth the wait as an excellent build up ended with JAMIE HAZELL who played for Borehamwood last season driving home. Having got the opener the Blues soon doubled their lead when a corner found the unmarked AJIBOLA OLATUNBOSUN at the far post and his header whistled into the net.
The Blues momentarily took their eyes off the ball and saw the deficit reduced but soon increased the advantage as Jamie Hazell fired his second of the game.
The young blues side with a mixture of last years under 18 side and some older heads dug in for the second half manager Lionel Morgan took the opportunity to give outings to 16 year old Chibueze Anyaegbu, 17 year old Joe Killingback and 18 year old Lee Rosmond who joined 16 year old Lee Flavin as the young Blues sent a message to the rest of the Suburban Division 1 North that they will be a match for anyone they come up against.
