Wingate and Finchleys’ second string retained third position with this their fifth victory in eight games. But they had to fight all the way against a side fast on the uptake, forcing Wingate on the defensive en-block leaving at most two forwards to pick up what little came their way. However LEE ROSAMOND picked up a good pass from debut boy Nkazi Dayo, drew the North Greenford keeper and slotted home in the ninth minute. Very little goalmouth action from either side in this half as both defences played a key role.
The game opened out in the second period and for Wingate the introduction of Calvin Petrie gave the Blues a target man sadly lacking in the first half despite Lee Rosamonds’ attempts to outrun gazelle-like defenders. Despite CALVIN PETRIE doubling Wingates’ lead in the 68th courtesy of Myles Beerman and Lee Rosamond who played the ball up to the tall Petrie, it was Blues keeper Daniel Anfossy who had his work cut out making some fine saves. North Greenford also pounded the ball over the bar from close in on teo occasions and could have cut Wingates’ lead or indeed levelled the score but Wingate did well to hold out and gain the three points.
