Wingate & Finchley Res 4-2 Potters Bar Res
Tuesday 2nd October 2007
After a two year absence Wingate and Finchley resumed their membership of the Suburban League with a goalless encounter in Ruislip. Ably managed by ex-WWith both Wingate and Finchley and Potters Bar‘s first teams involved in Ryman League Cup action the few attendees at this reserves fixture witnessed a fast and entertaining game - -end-to-end stuff with both sides playing out of their skins on Wingates’ super pitch, indeed the official Ryman League pitch of the year.

Tall lanky CALVIN PETRIE opened the Blues account almost from the kick-off having been fed from the right by Daniel Stanton. Petrie planted the ball home majestically drawing keeper Daniel Burnett. Potters Bar hit the bar twice in the next ten minutes, the second attempt from a free-kick, but in the 14th Wingate doubled their lead - again Daniel Stanton, having a super game, played the ball in to LEE JAY who slotted home. But Potters Bar were fast on the break but not sure what to do with the ball once within firing range. Blues keeper Daniel Anfossy also kept the “Bar” at bay - in the 29th making an excellent save from a Potters Bar three man attack. Daniel Stanton, always on hand over their on the right, sent a high ball over to Ben Lauffer who headed powerfully but well stopped by Burnett but for a corner. From the resulting corner Burnett made yet another fine save.

Three minutes to the break Wingate went further ahead courtesy of LEE ROSAMOND. In to the second period and CALVIN PETRIE secured his second and his teams’ fourth before Potters Bar eventually finding the net twice courtesy of Tom Allan and Sean Bennett-Johnson. An excellent game with the Blues inflicting on this useful Potters Bars’ reserves side only their second defeat of the season.
