David Laird Departs

Wingate & Finchley can announce that centre forward David Laird is to leave the club, and is set to join Harlow Town in Division One North. Laird joined five years ago and was pivotal in the club's treble season of 2010/11 in partnership with Leon Smith. He had also become a fans' favourite due to his graceful playing style and art of scoring spectacular goals, with lobs at Leatherhead and Canvey Island living long in the memory. Director of Football David Norman said "David has been a great servant to the club and I am immensely proud of what he has achieved here at Wingate over the past 5 seasons. We have both decided that he will leave the club to pursue 1st team football. David is a special talent that would complement any side - he will always be welcome back here at Wingate and I am certain our paths will cross again in the future."
