W&F 2 Aveley 2

On a proud and honourable day for everyone involved with Wingate & Finchley, which saw the Stadium at Summers Lane be renamed to The Maurice Rebak Stadium, the Blues had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Aveley. In the midst of such a special occasion for the club, Keith Rowland's side were looking in fine form from the offset. Luke Ifil played Ola Williams away down the right who cut a pass back inside for Tommy Tejan-Sie to shoot over, Tanasheh Abrahams then broke down the left finding Steve Wales, who couldn't capitalise with his rolling effort. Tejan-Sie's one-on-one placed attempt was kept out by Aveley's James Marable after being played through by Reece Beckles. Ahmet Rifat's downward header from Tejan-Sie's subsequent corner was also kept out. The visitors had their first shot on target through Alex Matepierre breaking in on goal from inside right channel, but his strike was kept out by the acrobatic Bobby Smith. The heavily involved Tejan-Sie's visionary throughball arrived at the feet of Beckles charging in on goal, who found the far corner of the net after 31 minutes. The forward could have had a second before the break but his one-on-one with Marable was kept out. Immediately after the restart, Beckles, Tejan-Sie and Wales combined on the edge of the area which saw the latter's placed strike kept out. Tommy Cummings ensured Marcus Elliott couldn't get his shot away when he managed to get into a dangerous position. On the hour mark, Rifat pulled off at the back-post meeting Tejan-Sie's corner with a powerful header back across goal for 2-0. Beckles' shot looking for his second, and Wingate's third, was kept out at the near bottom corner, before Aveley clawed a goal back. Through a crowded goalmouth, Reece Conway saw his effort find the back of the net after 73 minutes, giving his side momentum. Jordan Peart capitalised just four minutes later with a teasing cross which was met from six-yards by Abs Seymour. WingateTV with Tommy Tejan-Sie: HERE Wingate & Finchley line-up: 1. Bobby Smith 2.
