Keith Rowland's new look side welcomed Vanarama Conference South outfit, Maidenhead United, to the Harry Abrahams Stadium looking to make it four wins from four.
It was the visitors who edged the opening, with Sam Barratt blasting his effort high and wide from the edge of the box. At the other end, Rob Hastings broke away from James Hammond, though his attempt was denied at the near post by the feet of Carl Pentny.
Ola Williams, part of the Blues' triple cup winning side, floated in a near-perfect cross for Ryan Sellers who headed just wide, before the former Wycombe man had the best chance of the half with 39 minutes on the clock. Rob Laney powered his way past Rene Steer finding Sellers at the far post, whose close-range attempt was brilliantly kept out.
After the break, Laney attempted an audacious dipper which drew reaction from the crowd, before the hosts took a deserved lead. Luke Ifil impressed once again, slipping a cutting-pass from inside left for Tarum Dawkins to finish superbly across Pentny after 64 minutes. Just two minutes later, with the momentum fully in Wingate's favour, a second arrived. Sellers drifted inside from out left before hitting a spectacular attempt over Pentry finding the far corner from near 25-yards.
After the controlled performance, Laney spoke to WingateTV. Here's what he had to say on facing Chalfont St Peter at the weekend: "We just go again, we go again every game. An away game at Chalfont, it's not going to be easy but we'll do what Keith tells us to do and hopefully we'll get a nice clean sheet, and a nice win, make it five on the bounce, and take it into the next game against Wealdstone which is going to be another massive game. We'll just keep going and hopefully this pre-season will put us on the front foot for the beginning of the Ryman Prem."
