Youth news

Great start to the Youth season. Last weekend September 11th saw our Under 16s start their campaign with a thumping 6-0 win vs Waltham Abbey. What was very pleasing was the brand of football they were playing. Beautiful little triangles around the pitch and some of the goals were extremely well worked. It was a pleasure to watch. The under 18s were scheduled a game with Ruislip Town in the County Cup, but Ruislip decided they did not want to play the mighty Wingate and Finchley and awarded us the game. This sunday saw all of our sides in action, with two at our new home ground. The two games at Barnet Lane saw the Under 16s again score another 6 for a 6-1 win vs Barton Rovers, from what I here they continued their great play. The afternoon game saw the Under 17s outplay Ampthill only to lose 2-1. The under 18s had the pleasure of playing at Clarence Park home of St.Albans, and another great game, trialling 2-0 at half time they came back to win 3-2. Finally the under 15s travelled to Redbridge and continued their fine pre-season form with a 4-0 away win and also another 3 points on the road. The four youth sides are playing some attractive football, and its really nice to see. FA Youth Cup Whilst the first team went out of the FA Cup on saturday, the Under 18s enter the FA Youth Cup this week. We have been drawn at home to high scoring Buckingham Athletic FC who this season are coring and average of 5 goals per game, so we are in for a tough tie. We would appreciate your support we are at home this Thursday the 22nd September at the Maurice Rebak Stadium, with a 7.45pm ko. We are really looking forward to the game and the boys are determined to have a successful run. The Training Ground The training ground in Barnet turned blue last week. Aron, David's and Peter's hard work saw 6 Wingate & Finchley sides training together for the first time. First team, development, 15s, 16s,17s & 18s all training under the lights. There was a great atmosphere there, and what a great venue they have built.
