Youth Update

Many of you now will start to recognise some of the names representing the club, with no fewer than four Under 18s representing the first team: Josh Grantham, Cameron Lyttle, Bradley Marriot and Hakim Nyoraki. The Under 18s have had Cameron Lyttle and Joe Russell representing Middlesex County in their 2-1 win over Northants with Cameron Lyttle scoring. Three more players were called up to represent the Amateur FA, for their 6-3 win against Devon. Bradley Marriot, Paulo Montella & Romelle Alomenu. The U18s were unlucky to go out of the FA Youth Cup on penalties to Hayes & Yeading, when they dominated the game. Their season has recently taken an upturn and they have now reached the Middlesex County Cup quarter finals, where they will play Enfield Town. The Under 16s age group operates with two sides. The Herts team is a continuation of last seasons Under 15s, whilst the London side is a new side. This season has seen a total of seven players make the step up to under 18s when called upon. The U16s Herts side saw five players selected to play for the Amateur FAs side in their 2-1 win over Sussex. Sam Brazier, Joseph Toscani, Oliver Begueria & Alex Hadjithemistou all played. Following a successful Middlesex County Cup run, they have now reached the quarter final stage of the Competition having scored 21 goals, with a clash awaiting them away at Hanwell Town. The U16s London side havent faired too well so far. As a new side, they have performed really well in games, however not quite had the results their performances deserved. They have also had a spate of injuries which has weakened the squad. The Youth set-up at the club is primarily to feed the first team. Players representing the club aspire to become first team squad members, and the four that have played some part so far, are testament to this. We would welcome supporters at any game, all support is welcome. The teams play their games at Dame Alice Owen School and The Old Owens Sports Ground in Potters Bar. In weeks to come we will see the development of our New Training Ground in Barnet, after years of hard work by the Chairman and Directors of the club, coming to fruition. Next season will see us extend our teams from ages Under 14s - Under 18s. Developing our own local talent is our aim, that progress through to first team level, is not just the Chairmans directive but also my own as Head of Youth Development. We hope we see you supporting our young teams in coming months, it always gives our boys a lift. All fixtures are posted on the website. The youth coaches and I thank the Chairman and Directors for their continued support.
