It is with profound sadness that the club announces the passing of Life Vice-President David Wolff, on the evening of Tuesday 3rd February 2026.

A respected and loved figure at the Club, he had a calming influence and was ever-present at matches until his health declined in recent years. David was instrumental in the Club's development and rebirth in the mid 2000’s after the club hit troubled waters, guiding the Club through financial mayhem and allowing the Club to re-establish itself both on and off the field. He was a hugely popular figure across grassroots football.
Club chairman Aron Sharpe:
‘David was a kind and wonderful soul. He was the central figure for me when I became Chairman and, quite honestly, without his calm and professional assistance I very much doubt that the club would have pulled through and flourished.
His undoubted commitment to the beautiful game has allowed Jewish football to flourish for decades. You are able to recognise just how influential he was by the amount of awards and accolades that were presented to him.’
David was Maccabi GB Southern Football League Chairman, Honorary President of the London FA and in the last weeks was given an honorary life vice presidency of Maccabi GB - alongside his life vice presidency at Wingate and Finchley.
Everyone at the club is devastated by his passing and he shall be sorely missed by all at the club.
Below is a short excerpt from a tribute by Maccabi GB that epitomises David’s progressive and caring personality:
‘David Wolff lived the values he believed in. He used football as a vehicle for inclusion, identity, friendship, and continuity, and in doing so shaped not just leagues and competitions, but lives.’
May his memory be a blessing.
